Why Windsurfing:

We should always remember that: all work and no play makes Jack (or Jill) a dull person!

So here is an amazing hobby to keep you strapped in so to speak:

Windsurfing is the art of trying to balance on a windsurf board and sail in a controlled fashion when all the elements are trying to throw you off balance. This is an interesting multivariate non linear control system problem...

How I got hooked on windsurfing:

I was feeling bored laying on the beach doing nothing... not even contemplating on my navel. Then, to my surprise, I saw an old gray haired gentleman coming to the beach carrying a windsurfing board & sail. He quickly put his board in the water hopped on and sailed off into the sunset. I was hooked...and later he gave me my first lesson in windsurfing...be patient its not about brute force but good technique!

Fortunately where I "live" every summer there is a lot of water and now there is a small but well established group of local windsurfers who have some fun windsurfing, organising an annual race event with music, liquid refreshments and more windsurfing.... The age range of the group is from 12 to 55 so far.
